Thaissa, the Entrepreneur - Dressed to Impress (and kill zombies...)

Hello all,
So here is another of the survivors I painted some time ago and simply forgot to post pictures of.

This is the lovely Thaissa, described as the Entrepreneur:

Thaissa, entrepreneur, zombicide, promo, kickstarter, exclusive, painted, survivor, zombivore, zombie, killer, female

She was a Kickstarter Exclusive and one I was looking forward to painting. Great sculpt and quite different from the other females in the set.

Thaissa, entrepreneur, zombicide, promo, kickstarter, exclusive, painted, survivor, zombivore, zombie, killer, female

I've tried to paint her as close to the character artwork released by Guillotine Games, but the dress was difficult to paint in the right nuance:

Thaissa, entrepreneur, zombicide, promo, kickstarter, exclusive, painted, survivor, zombivore, zombie, killer, female

The official blurp reads as follows:

Thaissa the entrepreneur

"The world is not ending, just changing. No need to panic. We’ll just adjust some parameters."
Thaissa was a successful entrepreneur when the zombies came and tried to change the deal. She kept her cool and slightly altered her terms of service to fit the situation. Thaissa now grows her network among local survivors, dealing in equipment, information, and weapons. Of course, her beauty and unusual attire help a lot. After all, a new world means new possibilities.

Thaissa, entrepreneur, zombicide, promo, kickstarter, exclusive, painted, survivor, zombivore, zombie, killer, female

A pleasure to paint - great sculpt and she looks quite demonic in her Zombivore version. Of course, now that she is painted we will probably never draw her as a character :-).

All the best,
Kasper

Toxic Fatty Zombies - Mr. Cokelover and Mr. Janitor looking for employment (or brainzzz)

Hello all,

Life has been weird which has kept me from blogging (and painting, and gaming) recently. In order to keep this blog from withering and dying, I figured I would post some pictures of a couple of Toxic Fatties I painted before the shit-storm hit:

Zombicide, Toxic, Zombies, Painted, Fatty, toxic

Very nice figures - a pleasure to paint.
Quite disturbing miniatures, actually.
I tried getting the bottle to look like a coke bottle and do some scribbling on the name tag - works from a distance :-).

Zombicide, Toxic, Zombies, Painted, Fatty, toxic

I will leave you with this shot which reveals their wide, very wide, mouths! Scary!

Zombicide, Toxic, Zombies, Painted, Fatty, toxic

I hope to be back to painting and gaming soon....

All the best,
Kasper

Hot Zombie Love - disturbing evidence from the destroyed city

Hello all,
In the grim, dark, apocalyptic future of Zombicide there is only love?!?
A shocked survivor sent these pictures in to the local survivor head quarters and they may reveal a disturbing development in the zombie-strain:

Zombicide, Zombie, love, hot, fatty, fun

It appears to depict a somewhat obese blond zombie walking through the destroyed streets with her (its?) new boyfriend.

Zombicide, Zombie, love, hot, fatty, fun

A most disturbing development indeed!

Spontaneous Zombicide with the boys! Zombie Link is Extraordinaire!

Hello all,
There are few things my two sons (9&6) wants more than to play Zombicide. And who am I to refuse them when there is time? Yesterday there was time and we had a blast! We didn't use any missions as I wanted to test the flexibility of the game - I choose six boards more or less randomly, placed some doors and three objects to be claimed. These objects were three of the small children I've painted from Hasselfree - more fun than the "x-marks-the-spot"-counters.
As only two players would participate (the youngest prefers to be the children to be rescued) we began with a single spawn zone and decided a few more would be added once the children were freed (children make a lot of noise, you know :-)).

Zombicide, game, play, report, AAr, Achille, Dave, zombies,

The youngest shuffled the characters and we received Dave the Geek (an ok character, but nothing special) and my son got to play the serial murderer, Achille the Serial Killer (hmmm, not sure about that, but he was thrilled).

The game all set (took 15 minutes, not bad) we began - although I'm not sure why Achille would decide to rescue children, the possible answers are a bit scary :-).

First building was cleared quickly using the basic weapons.
Zombicide, game, play, report, AAr, Achille, Dave, zombies,

For some reason Achille seemed to draw the children to him...

On to the next building, now Achille had found an Assault Rifle (one of the best weapons, in my opinion). He quickly killed the zombies (again) and one more child was rescued.

Zombicide, game, play, report, AAr, Achille, Dave, zombies,

The boys felt we were doing great!

Zombicide, game, play, report, AAr, Achille, Dave, zombies,

On to the next building - Dave had found a Concrete Saw and an Automatic Shotgun - armed to the teeth the zombies had little chance at this stage, but we were rapidly approaching Orange...

Achille had collected the last kid and then the first Abomination entered our part of the city.

Luckily, Dave's concrete saw was up tot he task and the big guy was chopped into little, crawly pieces.

The mission all done, we headed for the exit and quickly departed, bringing the three children to safety.
We learnt some new things:
1) the game is really easy to improvise with. Out mission was a spur of the moment thing but worked really well. Once the basics have been learned there are endless possibilities for fun!
2) Achlles' skill - Zombie Link - looks a bit week, but in this game it saved our lives and I would judge it to be one of the best skills. He gets a free turn whenever a "extra activation" card is drawn. These are actually what we fear the most - I'd rather have six dogs enter than an extra activation. These are the real killers of a well situated and prepared survivor group and having a player who gets a free turn to remove the dangers, before they can kill you, is amazing. Perhaps this was an exceptional game (three extra activations were played) but I'll never be disappointed seeing a character with this skill in the game!

Toxic Abomination - Hear me Guuuuurgle!

Hello all,
Just back from Vienna and leaving for the US soon. Just time for an update with pictures :-).
This time it is one of them scary Toxic Abominations!
Although I guess the fact that he is weary bunny slippers might distract a bit from his scariness :-).

Zombicide, Zombie, Abomination, painted,

A great mini - but he takes a long, long time to paint. The sheer amount of skin is a hassle and all the small detail is only visible once you are halfway through the chap.

Zombicide, Zombie, Abomination, painted,

His slippers where fun, as were his briefs. Considered painting them to be really disgusting, but I felt like he didn't really need it :-).

Zombicide, Zombie, Abomination, painted,

A really nast postule on his lower back - ydrk!

Zombicide, Zombie, Abomination, painted,
On second thought, I think he is still plenty scary his slippers notwithstanding!

All the best,
Kasper

Berserker Walkers - Zombie Prison Guards

Hello all,

Still busy finishing papers for various conferences and the articles they spawn (got an interesting one on Pistis Sophia coming up, if anyone is interested :-)). So little - or rather, no painting happening, unfortunately.
I do still have a few miniatures painted that I havn't shown yet, so here are a few of the Berserker type of zombie walkers from Zombicide (of course).

Zombie, Walker, Zombicide, Berserker, painted

To be consistent, they have the same blue colour to mark them as berserkers. I think it works better on the inmates (see the two fatties here, for example) than it does on these guards.

Zombie, Walker, Zombicide, Berserker, painted

I felt obligated to paint them as American prison guards (according to my Google searches). Unfirtunately this does make them a bit muted and boring, but hey! their job is to be gunned down by our brave survivors so who cares, right? To be honest I felt a bit bored painting them and the finished models do, I think, show this to some extent.

Zombie, Walker, Zombicide, Berserker, painted

They are ok sculpts - not the most outstanding of the Prison Outbreak zombies but they serve their purpose. I'll return to them sometime in the future and spice up their bases a bit.

All the best,
Kasper

Berserker Fatties - Fast Food Addicts Bob and Larry

Hello all,
This being 'conference-season' and all, I hardly get to paint anything. Luckily, I've got a backlog of un-uploaded miniatures that I hope you wont mind looking at.
The two today are Fatties (and I do apologize for their name, but it is the official designation) of the Berserker type:

Zombicide, Toxic, zombie, prison, outbreak, fatty, painted

Bob and Larry were both prison convicts - and I do imagine them being buddies - when the zombiefying disease descended on the jail they were in.

Zombicide, Toxic, zombie, prison, outbreak, fatty, painted

While the blue colour isn't 'canon' in the Zombiecide universe, I needed a colour that would instantly be clear and mark them as Berserking zombies. Having used green already for the toxics, blue seemed a natural choice. It works okay - especially against the orange prison uniforms.

Zombicide, Toxic, zombie, prison, outbreak, fatty, painted

We've tried using the Toxic and Berserker zombies a few times, but to be honest they only seem to complicate the game in a way that doesn't really make sense. Perhaps We will use them more in the future, but now, with all the new rules, boards, etc. there seems to more than enough fun with the basic game.

Zombicide, Toxic, zombie, prison, outbreak, fatty, painted
Booo!

Here Bob and Larry have found a nice used car salesman, somewhat surprised with requests.

All the best,
Kasper

Mrs. Latex: Elsa the Cat-Burglar

Hello all,
So another of the survivors got paint on her. This time it is Elsa, who apparently was a cat-burglar in 'normal' life. I was looking forward to painting her, but to be honest I was really disappointed with the quality of the sculpt. The body is a fine latex suit, and her weapons look mean, but the face and hair was a bit of a let-down. Especially on the zombivore version she looks more like a grinning monkey than human. In the end I was sufficently annoyed that she was finished as a rush job. She still looks alright from a distance...:

Elsa, Cat-Burglar, Zombicide, Survivor, game, Zombivore, painted, latex, zombie

Perhaps, in time, I'll go back and highlight her latex-suit a bit more carefully and do something about her hair. At least her *primary assets* will probably attract most viewers attention, alleviating your criticisms concerning her facial features :-)

Elsa, Cat-Burglar, Zombicide, Survivor, game, Zombivore, painted, latex, zombie

We've tested her once and her beginning skill (Break-in, a free, silent, open doors-action each round), is great at first but at later stages becomes less remarkable. On the other hand, she will become very, very mobile once in the red zone, so she should often be among the surviving survivors.

Elsa, Cat-Burglar, Zombicide, Survivor, game, Zombivore, painted, latex, zombie

The official blurp for Elsa:
"Next time, they might as well lock the door with gift wrap. It won’t be more secure, only prettier."
Born a beautiful girl in a poor family, Elsa learned that agility, attractiveness, and subtlety could open all the doors to wealth. Stealing precious goods was her daily adrenalin fix, especially if it involved acrobatics and a real security challenge.
Elsa was running from the cops on the roofs when the zombies came and changed her life. Gold is useless now, but locked doors still shelter precious goods. Smiling and playful amidst the chaos, this kitten enjoys the apocalypse. All social barriers are down, only skill matters. And how skillful Elsa is!

Elsa, Cat-Burglar, Zombicide, Survivor, game, Zombivore, painted, latex, zombie

Despite the crappy face, she looks fine from a distance and will add some colour to the survivor-group.
Hope you liked Elsa - more survivors and zombies coming soon(ish).

All the best,
Kasper

Zombie Dogzzzz - Who let the Zombie Dogz out?!?

Hello all,

Another trio of vicious, growling Zombie Dogz have been painted and are ready for being gunned down:

Zombiecide, Zombie, Dogz, Dogs, painted

Don't mind Mr. Scaredy Pants (Mack the Car Salesman) - he is a bit scared of the nice puppies...

Zombiecide, Zombie, Dogz, Dogs, painted

These were done very quickly - twenty minutes tops. Chestnut wash, black for the leather, a bit of metal, off-white for the eyes and teeth and then a healthy applicantion of blood. Done. But they look alright on the board.

Zombiecide, Zombie, Dogz, Dogs, painted

If you havn't played Zombicide yet, then these beasts are actually some of the nastiest opponents due to their speed. A normal zombie gets one action each turn, runners two, but these beasts get three. Bad news if a large pack appears!

Wuf-Wuf!

Zombicide survivors from Wrath of Kings Kickstarter

Hello all,

Not sure if everyone interested have seen/received these but if not, then they will be available here :-).
This is the two cross-over characters (both survivors and zombivore) from the Wrath of Kings kickstarter which were made into Zombicide characters.
Now I didn't get these - and the completist in me is crying quitly about it - but they look alright. Both are combat beasts according to their skills, and the minis also look nice (although weird for someone like me who knows nothing about the Wrath of Kings-universe), although a bit soft in the detailing?

Anyways here are the pictures and stat cards of Alyana Heska and Union Worker #42:

Tough Chick: Shannon the Soldier armed and ready for the zombies!

Hello all,
Now, if (*when*...) the zombies come this Irish lady is someone I would appreciate sharing the troubles with. Shannon the Soldier, a survivor from the Zombicide Prison Outbreak set, looks to be tough as nails:

Zombicide, Prison Outbreak, Survivor, Zombivore, painted, Shannon, Soldier, Guillotine

Her Survivor mini carries a set of shotguns, while the zombivore has changed these for some serious guns - 44. Magnums? I must admit I don't mind painting scantily clad ladies, but if I was caught in the zombipocalypse, I would have donned a full set of body armour... perhaps the disease is spread through the air in Guillotine Games' universe?

Zombicide, Prison Outbreak, Survivor, Zombivore, painted, Shannon, Soldier, Guillotine

She is one of the better sculpts - great detail and for once the eyes are the 'correct' size (they seem to be overly small on most survivors, while on others they are far too large). She did get a somewhat frenzied look when I painted her (not sure you can see the eyes that well on these images?) which I kept as it seemed to suit her. Again, I've tried to stay true to the character drawings on the cards, although I did add a wee bit of blood on the survivor...
I had serious troubles painting her stubbles (or what remains of her hair) - trying at first a black diluted wash, but in the end it turned out a diluted grey was the easiest way to achieve the look. I think she turned out all right.

Zombicide, Prison Outbreak, Survivor, Zombivore, painted, Shannon, Soldier, Guillotine

The official description of this hard ass Irish survivor is:

"We all fight for what we lack. What is your war?"
Of Irish descent, Shannon is a woman of action. Gang wars, police, militia, the army, she had it all but never found a fight that could engage her body and soul. Back in civilian life after another accident with her last partner, Shannon was looking for a bouncer job when zombies came and gave her life real meaning. Shannon now has many causes to fight for: survival, protecting untrained people, and exterminating zombies with extreme prejudice. Surrounded by blood and death, she feels right at home and more alive than ever.

Zombicide, Prison Outbreak, Survivor, Zombivore, painted, Shannon, Soldier, Guillotine

Her skills (beginning with 'Point-blank', and quickly getting a choice of either ' Lucky' or '+1 free Ranged Action') are superb and I'm sure she is character who will kill her share of zombies!

All the best,
Kasper
