Zombicide!: Painted Runners

Hello all,
Managed to get a few more zombies painted - four of the nasty Runners. By far the most dangerous zombie type in the game - and should your party be so unlucky as to draw an "extra activation" card with the runner icon on them, well then that almost always means one or two survivors will go down.

Nothing fancy, but the sculpts can make even mediocre paintjobs look frightening :-).

The left Runner lost his arm to a hungry Fatty, not that he has noticed...

The sculpts are great, as mentioned, but they suffer from the weirdly undetailed hands that most of the Zombicide zombies have in common. I have no idea why, but with a bit of blood, that isn't really noticeable.

Zombicide Survivors in action

Hello all,
Couldn't resist getting a few action shots of all the survivors I've managed to spray paint on so far.

Zombicide Painting Progress

Hello all,
Is that Dave?!? Indeed it is, I'm aiming at painting him in Sheldon's green lantern t-shirt.
Mainly just a quick picture to show what I'm painting at the moment:

Zombicide Survivor preview: Red Cap Ben

Oh dear. Guillotine Games did it again.
Or rather, Karl Kopinski hit a home run. As one of the 'special guest characters' he is responsible for this beauty:

My lord - that is a bloody awesome miniature. It simply screams character! Even better than the original drawing (curiously entitled the "Bearded Man"):

I must state that GG continues to impress me - this guy looks to be a top grade sculpt.
By the way, this is a non-exclusive, and will be available ca. Q1 2014.

Kasper

Zombicide!: Painted Fatty Zombies

Hello all,
Managed to finish a few more Fatties. Nasty buggers!

I've given each a little snack - an arm from unfortunate victims. It looks better in real life - in these pictures the arm looks more like a hotdog :-).

Still not sure about how to paint Zombies with a darker skin, but I think I'm getting there.

Baziiiinga! Zombivore Dave

Hello all,
I may recently have been a bit too bitchy about the new sculpt for the Zombivore version of Dave the Geek.

Baziiiiinga!

From my initial impression the figure was dazzling yellow and had little to no details.

As it turns out (with the help of a primer and an Umber Wash) the amount of details is satisfying.

There is enough detail to make me a happy camper - click to view in a larger scale

So my apologies to the crew at Guillotine Games!

Zombicide: Painted Walker Zombies

Hello all,
The walkers I used as test models for my skin experimenting were finished recently.

They are a bit hit and miss, but their clothes add some colour diversity to the Zombie horde and their skins were fun to experiment with.

Zombicide Survivor: Crazy Ned

Hello all,
Crazy Ned to the rescue! the Cleric of the party - his free search skill is invaluable, but also makes him the guy at the back searching, while the rest are slaying.

Zombicide Survivor Zombie action painted Crazy Ned

That might be why he is crazy - btw, love his nickname, and he also looks a bit crazy, but hey who wouldn't in a zombie-infested world?

Designer's Note on Ned:
"….add a bit of bleach and BANG! Heh heh heh…"
Ned knew it. He knew THIS would happen. THIS was THEIR fault. But NOBODY ever listened. Boy are they SORRY now. Ned has been preparing for years: collecting food and weapons, building a bunker, all to survive THIS. Unfortunately for Ned, he’s lost his bunker key, so until he finds it he’s going to need every survival skill he’s got. And probably other people. Crap.

Zombicide shipment arrived - Zombivores galore!

Hello all,
So close, yet so far. I almost, almost had all the survivors from season one painted and then, today, a new batch arrived. The second installment of the first Season Kickstarter of Zombicide, called  Set #1 Survivors & Zomb'ivores, and with it came a bunch of new survivors, and the first Zombivores (or Zomb'ivores, as Guillotine Games has decided it should be spelled...).
So what did the lucky backers get?

Zombivores Zombicide second shipment kickstarter survivors dave chaz eagle cardboard samurai troy cholo

Three survivors and six Zombivores. And the gamesheets for each and six experience markers.

Not bad, but lets look at the minis.

Zombivores Zombicide second shipment kickstarter survivors dave chaz eagle cardboard samurai troy cholo

First of is the Zombivore versions of our old favorites; Nick, Dave, and El Cholo.
Nick looks beastly (actually he looks a bit like a werewolf) and will be a pleasure to paint. The same goes for El Cholo, although he definitely looks the zombie - shuffling along with his wicked machetes.
As for Dave, I'm really not sure - without any wash or primer, I simply cannot make any details out - he is so yellow that he blinds me. I really hope this is just an optical illusion, and will give him a light coat of a dark Wash tomorrow and see if it helps any. Two good minis and a mystery :-).
Next up is the one I've been awaiting most eagerly: the American Hero, Eagle Chaz.
Details looks excellent, both dead and almost-dead Chaz. Will be a pleasure to paint.

His Zombivore version is carrying an UZI (or similar) which is a surprise to me.
Also, the plastic somehow feels more bendy than the 'old' miniatures - the uzi-arm is really, really bendy. Hope this won't be a problem with the paint.

Next up is Troy the Traveller.

Nothing much to say - pretty sweet sculpt. His artwork is dull, so it will be a conundrum whether or not to follow that or to deviate from it.

Last, and in my opinion, least is the Cardboard Tube Samurai:

I've still only a vague understanding of this mini, and still think it is a silly concept. But hey - the yellow will be fun to paint and his skills are good. But definitely not my favorite character and the sculpt is also somewhat so-so.

Plenty of awesome sculpts that will be much more entertaining to paint than those bazillion zombies that still need some paint :-).

Zombicide Conversions - Mantic Zombies - part II

Hello all,
More conversions using a single Mantic Zombie plastic sprue and a few of the Zombies from Zombicide.

While we looked at the hand and head swaps last time (), this time I had fun with swapping bodies. The soft plastic is really easy to go to work on and this was bloody fun to do.

Body Swaps:

This guy looks like he'll be a scary Zombie once the paint hits him.

I think the following Runner was my favorite amongst this batch of conversions - looks really menacing!

As for the following two zombies, I'm not entirely sure - they have a bit of garden gnome-feeling about them. But perhaps it won't be as noticeably once they are painted and gory.

Zombicide Conversions - Mantic Zombies - part I

Hello all,
There are so many Zombies included in the kickstarter set that I really needed some diversion to persuade myself to keep painting and stop feeling swamped by Zombies

Zombicide Zombie Painting many swamped babes

So I remembered a free sprue of Mantic's excellent plastic Zombies. I got this for free with some internet order years (?) ago.
Zombicide converting zombies mantic plastic conversion

The details are really crisp and although the Mantic Zombies are wee bit bigger than Zombicide's (perhaps 30mm compared to 28mm?) I thought this might work, and would definitely be fun. I used to do nothing but convert back when I still played with Skaven Army, but since then I havn't really chopped up anything.

Half an hour later, with the superglue hardly dry, these chopped up monstrosities were among the results:

Simple Hand Swaps:

Two walkers turned out to be intelligent enough to use these lethal instruments of death, or perhaps they've just forgotten they were carrying a large sacrificial dagger and a nasty-looking meat clever...

This Fatty must have been a Freddy Kruger fan:

We'll rename him Fatty Krueger immediately...

Wanda got a few trophies for her base - I'll try and make it look like they have just been chopped off...

Head Swaps:
Zombicide converting zombies mantic plastic conversion
These walkers should provide some diversity. The one on the left looks best now, but I think the other chap will be scary once I get him painted. the head is a bit too big, but once the screaming starts, who is going to notice?

Thats it for now - the second part of the conversions (body swaps) will be up shortly.
